Croton roxburghii Balak. (Euphorbiaceae) is a medium sized tree being distributed all over India. Its stem bark, root and leaf are used by tribal people and traditional practitioners of Odisha for the treatment of snake bite, swellings, cuts and wounds, boils, ringworms, sprains etc. In the current paper, the aqueous extracts of Croton roxburghii Balak. stem bark, root and leaf against six human pathogens like two Gram positive, two Gram negative bacterial strains and two fungal strains on different concentrations (5μg/ml, 25μg/ml, 50μg/ml, 100μg/ml, 250μg/ml) were evaluated for the anti microbial effect, following standard procedure. The zone of inhibition of extracts were compared with that of different standards like Streptomycin, Gentamycin, Cefpodoxime and Norfloxacin for antibacterial activity, Nystatin and Greseofulvin for antifungal activity. All the extracts showed remarkable antibacterial and antifungal activities comparable with that of standard against all the organisms tested.
